The Turing test shows how far computers have come in the last 25 years. I feel as if it definitely
shows that we are closer and closer every day to an artificial intelligence that has a true
conscience. According to the video, there have been computers that were able to mimic
psychologists, paranoid schizophrenics, an even a Ukrainian 13-year-old boy. The Ukrainian boy
was able to fool the person talking to it simply because of language barriers. The paranoid
schizophrenic was able to completely take on the traits and act as if it was a real human with that
condition. Those examples themselves just prove how intelligent computers really are. Just
because they can’t hold one single “personality” doesn’t make them any less intelligent.
Human thinking and machine computing are similar in the way they store all of the information
it’s learning. A computer’s “brain” is the hard drive and the memory in it. A humans way to store
information is in our brain, which is very similar to a hard drive and the memory of a computer.
The way they differ is the fact that a computer stores digitally and can essentially copy and paste
the information learned. A human can’t do that.
I feel like computers one day could be as intelligent as humans. I mean look how far we’ve come
with them so far. There’s people out there working on artificial intelligence that can have a
conscience if its own. Once that truly happens, computers will be just as intelligent as us.
If computers gain a conscience, the possibilities are endless. We could send AI to work for us to
if there’s ever an emergency we have to deal with. They can run errands while we take a self-
care day. If all AI’s are on the same type of “server” the connections are endless.
