1. Key takeaways
According to the speaker, the brain of a procrastinator is different from a non-procrastinator,
but both brains have a rational decision maker in them. Procrastination works very late and
delays an important task by focusing on different easier activities, more enjoyable and less urgent
work. He says a procrastinator has "no memory of the past and no knowledge of the future." They
only care about is easy and fun work that they enjoy the most.
The speaker suggests some things to address procrastination. He says it is essential for all to
look at the life calendar as everyone is procrastination on something in life. Thus, it is important
to stay out of procrastination, so people need to work on it today.
2. The connections between procrastination, motivation, and coping
Procrastination can be a negative form of coping in different ways that include increased
interpersonal relationship issues, worse academic performance, reduced well-being, worse
financial status, and worse physical and mental health (Solving procrastination. Solving
Procrastination, 2021). Procrastination can be a positive form of coping in various ways like
unnecessary tasks disappear with procrastination, get more things done with active
procrastination, makes you more creative, leads to better apologies, helps you to make better
decisions, and shines a light on what's most important (Solving procrastination. Solving
Procrastination, 2021).
According to James Cook University Australia, undertaking valuable tasks often gives
intrinsic motivation. Similarly, extrinsic motivation is considered to be an external drive that
offers advantages to others, gains an aspiration like job promotion and gains a material

possession. Thus, it can be said that undertaking tasks with your goals can provide extrinsic
motivation (Klassen & Kuzucu, 2009).
3. Build resilience
Sometimes procrastination is considered a good thing because it can give you more time to
think, which helps in different ways; like it allows you to collect and process extra relevant
information or data before coming to a conclusion. It can help my friend to prioritize the work,
work more efficiently, conserve resources, increase creativity and motivation, reduce stress, and
increase the feeling of control and autonomy.
According to the speaker, the instant gratification seeker and inner rational decision maker
co-exist in humans. Here, an instant gratification seeker makes a person like an animal that
always thinks it is important to take rest and be well-fed, while an inner rational decision maker
pushes an individual to show their ability to do things effectively that other animals are unable to
do to make long-term plans, to visualize the future, to see the bigger picture, and to do sensible
work.
Overall, it is possible to get more success in life with the use of procrastination if important
things are outlined in life and changing the dread parts by focusing on the important things.
