I think that that majority of violent theft, alongside the majority of burglaries, is caused by Left
Realism (under the labeling hypothesis). Left realism thinks that the three three key reasons for
what is deemed "middle class street crime" are; relative hardship, exclusion and subgroups. They
contend that strengthening links amongst the police and the surrounding populations and putting
more of an emphasis on social and community crime prevention are the best ways to combat
crime (Thompson, 2016).
Left-realist theories of violence have come under fire for emphasizing fiscal hardship, but this
argument sounds reasonable to me since it only addresses illegal acts and leaves out other forms
of criminal conduct that are also quite widespread in our culture (Criminology Essays - Left
Realism Critique, n.d.). It seems implausible to me to claim that any one of the many other
viable theories of crime and delinquency is the only cause or remedy for crime. Thus, it is
difficult to solve these challenges.
I expect left realism to continue having an impact on law enforcement procedures and legislation
in the future. addressing the underlying causes of the inequality in income, knowledge, and
unemployment that is an outcome of capitalism. offering rehabilitation, job training, and changes
to the operations of all of our state structures.
