II. Explore the position advanced in your chosen article.Primary Argument:
The primary argument that will be analyzed is that an unnecessary use of social media platforms
presents a liability to one’s mental and emotional health. Within the article, the authors delve
further into human beings need for face-to-face contact to be mentally healthy and happy, and
the risks for mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, because of extensive social media
use.
D. Describe the bias or lack of bias in the article that you selected.Bias:
Provide specific examples to support your observations.
After careful review of the article, I found there to be no signs of bias made by the authors. I
found no emotive language that would indicate a bias, and I found no subjective language, a
further symbol of bias. I found several bits of evidence that displayed fair-mindedness made by
the authors. One example being, “Online interaction can only go so far in reducing social
isolation and does not provide a replacement for the need for face-to-face contact.” (Attard &
Coulson, 2012; Caron & Light, 2015). This statement does not exacerbate the impression that the
authors are trying to exaggerate details to hold the reader’s interest, further diminishing a sense
