Research was conducted using IBISWorld to establish three corporations in the life

science industry with the same NAICS code and determine three standards that were

useful in determining these companies.

These three organizations were elected as they are considered our primary competitors

and are incredibly successful in the pharmaceutical life science industry and obtain the

same NAICS code of 54171 in the United States. These organizations are the most

successful in the region and have recently acquired several similar companies. While we

identified other companies, such as Pfizer, as primary competitors, we neglected to

employ them as they ranked lowest on our list of rivals.

Company Information

well known for their impact on cancer, Crohn’s and Parkinson’s disease based on their

strategic vision of “create an innovation driven – patient focused specialty

biopharmaceutical company capable of achieving sustainable of achieving top-tier

medicines” (N.A, Strategy, 2024. Para,1). The headquarters is located at 1 N. Waukegan

including Creon and Synthroid. At the end of Q2 2024 AbbVie reported a market share

of 12.23%. “AbbVie is also looking at inorganic growth. After its acquisition of Allergan in

2020, it acquired ImmunoGen for $10.1 billion this year, giving it rights to Elahere — an ovarian

cancer treatment – with estimated peak sales of over $2 billion” (Prosinski, 2024. para,7). The

Eli Lilly And Company “is known to be a leading distributor & manufacturer of

therapies in pharmacy specifically in cardiovascular disease, cancer, central nervous

system, infectious diseases and endocrine system disorders. One of the most famous

drugs the company produce was Prozac, an antidepressant drug. Other successful drugs

research conducted in over 55 countries. The company is based in Indianapolis, IN and

holds an overall market share of 9.65% in Q2 of 2024. Finance charts indicate that the

CAGR is 104.28% with a 3-year growth rate of 52.69% and 53.14% at 5 years. In 2023,

the company completed a total of 6 acquisitions and has regularly acquired three

companies throughout the past 3 years.

The third company that was determined as a potential candidate to acquire our

organization is Bristol-Myers Squibb. Bristol-Myers Squibb has headquarters based in

New York, NY and Princeton, NJ and a strategic vision “to be the world’s leading

biopharma company that transforms patents’ lives through science” (Bms, Inc.2024).

Bristol Myers Squibb has prioritized a service of in-depth cancer research through an

understanding of disease biology and using immunonocology, cell therapy and protein

degradation to innovate new cancer treatments.
