Overview
I work as a director of leadership and learning for a corporation that creates prosthetics.
The corporation started producing prosthetics in 1999 and utilizes more than 350 individuals at
the head office location in Tampa, Florida. The corporation also has three sites spread throughout
the Southwest.
Every year the corporation conducts an employee engagement survey and this year some
of the findings revealed that certain leadership methods were ranked below average, while
certain leadership methods were ranked above average. In order to determine the leadership
shortcomings, the corporation is presently faced with, I have been requested to generate an
adaptive leadership toolkit that can be utilized within the corporation. I have started with a
personal leadership self-assessment, and I will be reviewing the findings in depth to establish
what would be valuable in creating the adaptive leadership toolkit. Below is a more
comprehensive analysis of my self-assessment.
Business Problems
The problems the prosthetics organization is facing according to the employee
engagement survey, would be “My supervisor shows appreciation for the work I do,” under the
Focus Area Job Satisfaction. The survey questions “I trust my supervisor” and “Provides
leadership who act in just and ethical ways.” Both of these falls under the Focus Area Working
Conditions would be the organizations biggest downfall.
