Overview
Your active participation in the discussions is essential to your
overall success this term. Discussion questions will help you make
meaningful connections between the course content and the
larger concepts of the course. Conducted over a two-week time
period, these discussions give you a chance to express your own
thoughts, ask questions, and gain insight from your peers and
instructor. Multiweek discussions allow for more !exibility around
submission due dates compared to traditional discussions and
encourage a deeper evolution of conversation around speci"c
course concepts.
Directions
For each discussion, you must create$one initial post$and follow
up with at least$two response posts.
For your$initial post, do the following:
Write a post of 1 to 2 paragraphs.
In the "rst week one of this multiweek discussion, complete
your initial post by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of your local time
zone.
Consider content from other parts of the course where
appropriate. Use proper citation methods for your discipline
when referencing scholarly or popular sources.
For your$response posts, do the following:
Reply to at least$two$classmates outside of your own initial
post thread.
In the second week of this multiweek discussion, complete
your two response posts by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of your
local time zone.
When responding to at least two of your peers’
postings, your responses should show that you have
given thought to what the original post said. They
should also push the conversation forward, oering
insights or asking clarifying questions if necessary.
Consider the following questions:
Does your response push the conversation forward?
Does your response oer your perspective?
What about your peers’ stories can you relate to?
What can you learn from your peers’ stories?
Are your responses clear?
Have you considered the viewpoints or insights of the
original posts?
