sustainable, and agile culture
Assess needs, resources, and opportunities
Interpret quantitative and qualitative data aggregated
from multiple sources
Module Overview
Developing ourselves and others is a cornerstone skill set for effective
leadership. The spectrum of leadership includes at one end leaders
who tend to have more of a command-and-control style, instructing
others on what to do and in some cases even how to do it. In contrast,
more strategic-thinking leaders focus on clearly articulating their vision
and communicating the broad objectives, ensuring others embrace the
end in mind, and then getting out of their way while they pursue it.
The best leaders continually assess where they are on the spectrum of
leadership, seeking feedback in a variety of ways to gauge their
progress on leadership development, continually challenging
themselves to hone their leadership skills and behaviors slowly over
time. To do so effectively requires self-discipline, as well as a plan to
achieve it. The best leaders also focus much of their energy on the
development of others, focusing not only on what the employee needs
to accomplish, but also on acquiring new skills to perform well, as well
as applying positive leadership behaviors in completion of the goal.
In this module you will learn about the importance of setting the right
set of goals for an individual and the process to be followed to enable
the individual to achieve the goal. You will also explore the leadership
skills that are beneficial for every manager to master in his or her
domain, and you will continue dialogue with others in the discussion
regarding competencies to include in the adaptive leadership toolkit.
At the end of this module, you will also submit Milestone Two of the
project.
