I would like to talk about a tool that we use in the medical field called
Omni Calculator. This tool is used whenever we are giving
medications to patients. Most of the time drug doses are pretty easy
to determine for the patient, however when you start to get into
either uncommonly used medications or honestly just been working a
long shift, this tool is amazing. It allows you to find the medication
along with the usual doses for it. This tool also allows you to put the
patients weight in and basically does the dosing calculations for you.
This tool converts measurements from say mL to mg if you are using
a liquid medication that we commonly used for pediatrics. I can
honestly say this has over time saved me from giving the wrong dose
of medication to patients and most likely ultimately saved lives in the
end.
