Define the following systems-thinking concepts in your own words:
SYSTEM THINKING
This type of holistic thinking examines the relationships between systems and its
component pieces to understand how systems interact. The context of more
complex systems demonstrates how systems function. balancing operations.
Balances are created using computer simulations and the assistance of models and
graphs. Therefore, simulations play a crucial role in process balancing. Decision-
making becomes improved as a result of the system's good suggestions.
COLLECTION
By gathering data, the process of gathering information, measuring, or focusing on
certain variables in already-established systems is made possible. Data collecting is
improved via observations, surveys, interviews, and archives. For example, if we
are considering a class room, desk ,chairs, Board each are considered as a
collection. Whenever we add people to a collection it will be transformed into
system.
FEEDBACK LOOP
The circular and interrelated aspect of a system is defined by a feedback loop.
When a system's events or processes change, it creates a feedback loop that causes
additional changes to the same thing. A reinforcing feedback loop develops when
change results in progress in the same direction. A balanced feedback loop is what
is described when change is occurring in the opposite direction.
STOCK AND FLOW DIAGRAM
In a system like population, stocks are the quantifiable components. Flows are
modifications to the system's stocks. Therefore, flows have a favorable or negative
impact on equities. For instance, if population is stock, then births and deaths are
flows. Death would be an outflow while birth would be an influx. Money that you
have in a bank account is another illustration. It's a stock. Any amount you deposit
will be considered an inflow, and any amount you withdraw from the bank account
will be considered an outflow. This is how a stock and flow diagram are created.
CASUAL LOOP DIAGRAM
A causal loop diagram is a visual tool for locating important system variables and
the connections that connect them. A causal loop diagram has four fundamental
components: variables, links between variables, signs on the links, and the loop's
sign. CLDs do not distinguish between variables that are stocks and variables that
are flows, in contrast to stock and flow diagrams. CLDs are a useful starting point
for developing a fundamental understanding of the issue since they convey high
level perspectives of a system in a form that is understandable to a wide range of
people.
SYSTEM MODELLING
1. Customer shops at LPO Online
2. Customer places order using LPO Online portal
3. Warehouse receives customer order
4. Warehouse Associates track customer order
5. Associates use LPO Inventory to locate item
6. Associate pull item for shipment
7. Associates package item for shipment
8. Associates ship and assign item a tracking number via USPS for shipment
9. Customer receives shipment
10.Associates update order status
11.Associates send a thank you card to customer for purchase and Customer
receives shipment request and review of the item and LPO experience
Compose a brief, 250- to 500-word summary of the given system, as well as
the relationships present in this system. In your summary, describe the
system, feedback loops, and other archetypes you identified within the system.
Various relationship models are included in this. Capture the knowledge, and
constraints are thus overcome, whereas qualitative data is by its very nature. The
interconnections of the process are therefore made evident by the elements,
different notations, resolutions, and variables.
RELATIONSHIP PRESENT
The customer's order is sent straight to the warehouse, under the one-
way8unidirectional customer-warehouse relationship.
Order fulfillment and customer notification are the responsibilities of the
warehouse.
The warehouse and fulfillment department work together in a two-
way8bidirectional relationship where the warehouse fulfills orders and the
fulfillment department ships them.
The interaction between the fulfillment and shipping departments is one-way and
unidirectional, with the fulfillment department in charge of shipping the order and
the shipping department in charge of delivering it to the client.
The relationship between the shipping department and the client is one-way and
unidirectional; the shipping department is in charge of sending the order to the
customer, and the customer is in charge of receiving it.
Describe the system, feedback loops, and other archetypes you identified
within the system.
System thinking is a method of analysis. It basically involves breaking down the
systems component elements and seeing how they interact, as well as how the
system functions over time. It helps someone evaluate systems from a broad
perspective as opposed to focusing on specific instances.
COLLECTION
These are merely a part of the structure. For example, if we are picturing a
warehouse, the work area, seats, and stock are each thought of as a collection.
Every time we add people to a collection, it transforms into a framework.
Casual loop diagram
This diagram illustrating the relationship between system elements. Here node
represents variables and link represents edges that connects between variables. The
link may be positive or negative. Positive means two nodes change in same
direction and negative means nodes change in opposite direction.
FEEDBACK LOOP
Each component of a framework is connected to the others. As a result, the
elements' feedback loops and flows remain consistent. Two feedback loops,
namely the supporting loop and the adjusting loop, will be present. A feedback
loop is a component of a framework that uses some of the framework's output as
information.
