6-1 Discussion: Financing an Expansion Into a New Global Marketplace
Hello class, for this weeks discussion post, I have chosen Blackstone inc. for the topic of global
expansion. This article actually comes quite recently, from early November of this

Blackstone is an alternative investment management firm, which is headquartered in NYC currently.
According to the SEC, there is over $1 trillion USD in assets under management making Blackstone the
largest alternative investment firm in the world. The article above references expansion into two new
markets in Europe, however, it does state the specific countries Blackstone intends to move into. They
currently have operations in London, Zurich, Milan, and Frankfurt and have hired new executives to help
assist in the expansion. According to the article, Blackstone has created new investment funds to raise
capital to aid in the expansion process. “Blackstone is pinning its wealth expansion hopes on a range of
semi-liquid 'evergreen' funds designed for retail investors, spanning private equity, credit and property.
It will launch two new funds in credit and infrastructure early next year, initially in the U.S.” (Withers,
2024). I think the expansion will likely be successful and beneficial as Blackstone has seen continued
growth and demand for their high net worth product and services, and despite navigating regulation
across the EU, they have still seen growth across several of their footprints globally. The firm hasn’t
commented on their asset breadth internationally however, which does lay some suspicion on HOW
successful they have been in the four international markets they operate in. I’m eager to hear more
about which countries they select.
