Technological Efficacy or Medical technology for the Future.
Robotic Surgery
Robotic surgery has revolutionized the many aspects of surgery. The lists to robotic
surgery includes telepresence technology which allows surgeon to operate remotely and 3-
D imaging which consists of a special camera. This specialized technology has its
advantages and its disadvantages. One of many advantages include, better visualization
with enhanced magnification and precise movement as per articleRobotic surgery: Robot-
assisted surgery, advantages, and disadvantage. (n.d) states:
The small instruments allow surgeons to perform steps of the operation inside your
body when traditionally, they would have had to make a much larger incision to do
that part of the procedure outside of your body.” Needless to say, these advantages
come with more incentives like less blood clots, reduce scarring and shorter
hospital stay which can also minimize cost for the patient. (para. 15.)
One of many disadvantages to robotic surgery is its availability as it scarce across
countless hospitals who cannot afford the technology. There is a potential after robotic
surgery to still having a larger incision made after the minimal one from the robotic
technology because of prior scar tissues. However, the most severe and negative outcome
is the neurological damage that can happen from robotic surgery as article Robotic
surgery: Robot-assisted surgery, advantages, and disadvantage. (n.d) again
states, “Robotic-assisted surgery lowers the risk of certain complications. But they’re still
possible.” Specifically nerve and compression injuries.
Organ Cloning
When we think of organ cloning we think of stem cell research. While stem cell is still
legal, organ cloning is less accepted among conservatives. The battle rages on between
liberal and conservatives on what is ethically and morally right when any type of cloning
is the topic. If cloning was more prevalent and recognized. It can prevent the extinction of
species, help people who can’t have kids have them and most significantly help with how
the food shortages. “Another major advantage of cloning is that it can serve as a means to
increase agricultural production, particularly livestock and fresh produce.” (Bio Explorer,
2022.) The earth cannot continue to sustain or provide food at the rate we are going and
this will assist immensely in over taxing the agricultural production.
The biggest con being that organ cloning has been labeled as unethical. As to the case of
successfully long the sheep. I wasnt successful the first try, it took multiple attempts to get
it right and that is what makes it hard to swallow, it’s going through the failed attempts for
human trials which no one want to be a part of exploitation of life as article Top 7 pros
and cons of cloning: Reproductive cloning: Biology explorer (2022) states, “With that,
critics highly believe that it would be unethical to clone humans unless these problems
become known and be resolved at a level of certainty.”
