The course ‘IHP 310: Pathophysiology and Pharmacology Concepts’ has been extremely
insightful for me as I got to learn a broad range of diseases that affect individuals and affect their
health outcomes. I found the entire course and its contents to be extremely comprehensive in
nature. This is because my learning was not restricted to identifying and understanding medical
conditions alone. However, the course also uncovered other aspects such as treatment options for
different diseases, procedures, and the use of drugs to improve the health status of individuals.
The course helped me to gain an insight into the concepts of physiology, anatomy, and medical
terminology while analyzing symptoms and diagnosing an individual. The learning was not just
related to the medical domain. I was also able to understand how medical knowledge can be
integrated into information technology for working in diverse areas such as coding, abstracting,
auditing and reimbursement. The case studies that were covered during the course have played
an instrumental role in shaping and defining my learning process. By working on diverse cases, I
got the opportunity to understand how healthcare professionals can identify health disorders by
examining their signs and symptoms. Furthermore, the course has added value to my overall
learning experience as I feel that I am more empowered to evaluate signs and symptoms in
vulnerable individuals and effectively carry out the diagnosis and treatment process.
The knowledge that I have gained throughout the course can be applied in the real-life
healthcare setting. As the course has helped me to understand diseases in a better way, I can use
the insight while examining the health condition of patients. Similarly, the theoretical insight that
I have gained throughout the course can also help me to systematically and proficiently carry out
accurate diagnosis and treatment processes so that the health status of individuals can be
improved. One of the main highlights of joining the course is that I was able to strengthen my

theoretical comprehension of different kinds of diseases. The overall learning experience that I
had got further boosted as I was able to take part in quizzes and case studies. It gave me an
opportunity to understand how to apply the learned theories in real-life and practical settings.
The learning that I had relating to healthcare documentation can be of high value for me in the
practical healthcare landscape. In the era of technological innovation and digitalization, I can use
the technical insight while working on specific elements such as coding, auditing, etc. The
course has given me an opportunity to apply the gained knowledge in my future health
information management profession so that I can adapt to the evolving medical as well as
technology domains. I can use my learning experience to differentiate between various kinds of
medical conditions by making use of evidence-based resources. The ability to accurately check
patient health records can further help me to identify the exact health conditions of individuals
and deliver suitable treatment so that their health outcomes can be improved.
