Concept and Etiology: Pyelonephritis
This is a type of urinary tract infection. It typically begins in the
urethra or bladder and moves to one or both of the kidneys. This is a
condition that requires immediate medical attention as it can cause
permanent damage to the kidneys. Or even possible the infection can
spread to other parts of the body and become life treating. so, this
condition is a clear deviation from the module of health we have
previously discussed. As this condition can be life threatening or
cause life changing or permeant changes to the individual.

Acute Uncomplicated Pyelonephritis
c Acute Complicated Pyelonephritis
c Emphysematous Pyelonephritis
c Xanthogranulomatous Pyelonephritis
c c Chronic Pyelonephritis
Clinical Manifestations:
c c Fever
c Chills
c Back pain
c Groin pain
c Frequent Urination
c burning Urination
c Haematuria
c Cloudy or smelly urine
Diagnostic Tests:
c c The most common test for Pyelonephritis would be a urine sample.
which is then examined under a microscope. Also a CT scan can be
done to determine if there is an infection.
