One of the greatest cultural expressions that we get to see often is
the art of cinema. "Just as movies reflect the anxieties, beliefs, and
values of the cultures that produce them, they also help to shape and
solidify a cultures beliefs. Sometimes the influence is
trivial..."(UMN,2016). Cinema can relay cultural expressions through
trials and tribulations about specific cultures or people. Social
messages that are relayed about wellness can be that the struggle
through situations and individuals powering through them can cause
cultures and people to be inspired about similar events that are
happening in their lives. A movie such as Caesar Chavez and the
grape growing strike is important as it can send a message about
equal treatment for farmworkers. He was striking for a livable wage
for farmworkers, this is an important message because they put their
income and safety on the line to fight for something that they
believed in.
The social implications of this message are fairly simple, fighting for
what you believe in is right will always be the best course of action.
Even when the times seem rough around the battle for your beliefs
sticking through and seeing it till the end will usually cause that
message and movement to not only be heard and seen but be acted
upon to fix the situation=.
