The cultural expression I am choosing for the sake of this discussion
is advertising. From the time I was small, I always saw
advertisements for weight loss regimens, 'anti-aging' products,
supplements, etc. Thats not even counting magazine advertisements,
which have those mentioned above and more. This message being
communicated by these advertisements is that the natural aging
process and state of your body is not healthy, and preys on your
want to improve your physical dimension of wellness. While there
are certain things you should be doing to keep up your physical
dimension of wellness like eating well and exercising, you should not
overdo it to the detriment of your mental dimension of wellness. The
social implications of this message is that women especially, but
everyone feels as though their natural selves are not enough, and
they need products in order to look and feel healthy.
