During the thick of the pandemic and today, our lives changed
in many ways. Working from home became a reality for many
companies and employees. Companies allowing work from home and
a millennial shift in the workforce changed our society and work
culture (Liu, 2022). Typical 9-5 jobs were transformed and new jobs
were created. As a result, people started to experience a change in
priorities and reflection.
Following this, many employees experienced burnout and took
the opportunity to explore newfound options and avenues for
growth (Liu, 2022). Subsequently, the “great resignation” was born.
The flexibility presented in the workforce gave employees the power
to pursue other meaningful opportunities or perhaps quit altogether.
Society is not just seeking a job in the traditional sense, but searching
for meaning.
Still, various companies continue to operate and allow remote
work by choice. However, some companies are struggling to get
employees back into the office. I am curious to see how this will
positively or negatively impact our future.
Finally, remote work during the pandemic and today relates to
the wellness of our workforce, culture, and mental health. Being
happy and fulfilled with our occupation is crucial to our well-being.
Working to gain financial stability will always be necessary, but how
it looks can shift, and the value we give ourselves can benefit society,
our job, and our mental health. In reflection, we must adapt to
change. Technology advancement allowed our workforce to
continue. Change is inevitable and impacts our future. Our wellness
can endorse change and be affected by it.
