3-2 Project Draft: Introduction and Proposal
1. Using the resources from this course, identify the key characteristics of each of the four
lenses: social science, natural science, history, and humanities.
Social Science- Social science is the research of behaviors of human societies. There is a wide
variety of academic fields that fall under the social sciences, including sociology, geography,
psychology, and economics, just to name a few. The process of research and collection is similar
to that of the natural sciences and is done by using the scientific method.
Natural Science- Natural science is the study of the physical world. Subcategories that fall
underneath the natural science field consists of physics, biology, and chemistry. Scientists in
this field utilize the scientific method as a guide for research.
History- The history lens allows for researchers to delve into the past. Using accurate
information from past events, documents, and journals allows for present problems to be
solved.
Humanities- The humanities focus of study is that of ethics, languages, and arts of different
cultures universally. The humanities allow society to identify similarities and differences
of differing cultures from around the world.
