I believe that humanities are relevant in our everyday lives. The study
of society and culture is fundamental to humanities and something
we take part in every day. The decisions we make today will have a
lasting impact on the generations of tomorrow. Having knowledge of
other cultures and our history as humans is to have an understanding
of how we are here today. This type of education teaches you to
look into something deeply and get different perspectives on a
subject. Having an open mind is important so you don't overlook
things which will lead to a greater appreciation.
This will be helpful in my degree working in the engineering field so
ideas are well-thought-out and nothing is overlooked. Engineering is
about constant improvement and collaboration with others in order
to complete a task. I believe from what I've learned in humanities,
that I will take more time to put thought into what I'm doing but also
why I'm doing it. As well as getting others perspectives that will allow
me to make improvements that I did not see myself.
