The current history has had a great impact on human services. The
new stories and current events can illuminate the recent trends
impacting human services agencies. The same issue of the current
history of human services has been addressed in this research study
by locating two different journal articles. The current problem that I
have chosen to address is understanding client satisfaction in elderly
care. As per the social resource theory, social interaction can be
conceived as an exchange of behaviors or resource transactions
falling within the categories of six fundamental resources. It includes
status, love, money, information, services, and goods. These six
fundamental resources can be organized with two underlying
dimensions: concreteness–abstractness and particularism–
universalism. This research study has adopted a novel approach to
extend quality care knowledge, categorizing and describing care
behaviors using social resource theory rather than using single care
behavior instances. The research shows that the resource categories
of status and love were considered strong predictors of client
satisfaction. The article "Understanding client satisfaction in elderly
care: new insights from social resource theory" by Kazemi and
Kajonius states that "the use of social resource theory is a novel and
appropriate approach to examine person-centered care and
satisfaction with care." (Shagerdi et al., 2022). Understanding client
satisfaction in elderly care is a great part of the professional's job
duties that may result in affecting the current history of human
services. This article explains that "operationalizations of resource
categories (predictors) and perceived client satisfaction (outcome
variable) based on observations in residential care facilities for older
persons" had a great impact on human services (Kazemi & Kajonius,
2021). Therefore, dealing with clients dealing with substance use
and client satisfaction in elderly care can be more challenging for
professionals.
My second article is "Opportunities for Using Health Information
Technology for Elderly Care in the Emergency Departments: A
Qualitative Study" by Shagerdi, Ayatollahi, and Hemmat. In this
article, the major focus has been given to the use of health
information technology that can help control disease outcomes by
improving patient care. The use of such health information
technology is crucial to improve access to data and enhance
collaboration between various specialties.
The authors Shagerdi, Ayatollahi, and Hemmat state that "using
specific health information technology for elderly care in the
emergency department can help to overcome current challenges."
Identifying opportunities along with the support of health
information technologies can lead to improving staff performance
and better use of financial, human resources, and physical resources
(Shagerdi et al., 2022).
The first responders are the elderly care providers, social workers,
and others who may encounter challenges because of experiencing
negative situations. Such situations' emotional impact can result in
opportunities to use health information technology for elderly care.
Many elderly people may seek help because of their family disputes
or health issues where the human services need to work with the
clients. Here, generating a positive self-care plan is very important to
alleviate any emotional distress that can help to tackle all the elderly
people's life challenges.
