Human Services professionals and other professionals who work in the same agency are
working with families, individuals, and communities to improve their quality of life but
also influencing their operations and services. One of the most important roles of a human
professional is brokering or referring a client to another agency or service. A human
service professional may send a client to another professional for several reasons. Home
health care services today include in-home nursing care, rehabilitation and therapy
following hospitalization. Human service professionals face many challenges throughout a
typical day. Human service professionals are involved in resource allocation.
In the field, social workers are tasked with empowering clients to become more self-
sufficient, to overcome their social, financial, and interpersonal challenges, and to lead
more healthy and productive lives. At the head of organizations, human services
leadership are tasked with empowering staff to better serve their communities, with
ensuring the long-term stability of their department or agency, and with maximizing the
impact of their teams through strategic planning and creative problem-solving. Social
workers and human services professionals can typically anticipate finding jobs in the same kinds
of organizations: state and local government departments, nonprofit groups.
I would show my skills in what I’m capable of doing in a workplace professional and
nonprofessional which is:
• Goal setting
• Communication
• Active listening
• Problem solving
• Time management
I would show my ability of knowledge and show how important the position is within the
job they offer to me and I’ll be willing to learn from it so in the future I know what I am
doing in order to accomplish my goal and if there’s anything that I don’t know I’ll ask
questions about it to understand what I’m supposed to do to meet the requirements.
