Although an agency may have a name such as "XYZ Addictions Center",
there are a multitude of professionals and volunteers that must work together
for the good of the agency. b These employees and volunteers may have
degrees ranging from a high school diploma to a Ph.D.. b Their degrees may
have nothing to do with addictions in this example. b There are people who
have a degree in office management, human resources or history. b I believe, all
things being equal between two applicants, the person with the degree would
probably get the job before one without a degree. b I feel it shows that the
person is willing to keep on learning and has tenacity. b All of these people
must work closely with each other for the good of the agency.
No matter the degree, there must be accountability by the worker to complete
their job without error. b If this information is passed on to the next
professional, the client may not receive the help that they need. From the
client expressing their needs, to the case worker who will help provide those
services, to the therapist that is relying on you to make sure those needs are
met, all must be done properly for the flow of the agency. b If you think of it as
a pyramid, the basic needs need to be met for the other professionals to do
their job properly. b We will be working closely with each other, passing on
what we have learned to the next associate. b Your client notes and services to
be offered, or that have been offered, must be meticulously written as to avoid
any confusion. b If your job is to be a client's Payee, and the client finds out that
their bills are not being paid, that will cause undue stress on the client. b That
may throw off the person's therapy as they are worrying about their electricity
being turned off instead of focusing on the mental health the therapist is
working on. b In short, if the issues at the base of the pyramid are not being met,
it will be a challenge to maintain the structure that the client needs to be
successful in their endeavors. b b b
