Here is the different model of services. c
Social Model: Social model and its characteristic-personal and environmental factors that contribute to
a lack of functioning. (e.g., environmental factors may include a lack of available services or little
family support.) (Woodside, McClaim, 2018)
Medical Model: physical impairment, limitation of living and work functions, and restrictions that
include use of an employment handicap. (Woodside, McClaim, 2018)
Medical Model - orientation developed by medical professions; it assumes mental disorders are
diseases or illnesses that impair and individual ability to function. (Woodside, McClaim, 2018)
Public Health Model: Public health models focus on groups in the population who may be identified
by geography. c (Woodside, McClaim, 2018)
Medical Model of service:
"Medical Model-orientation developed by medical professions; it assumes mental disorders are
diseases or illnesses that impair an individual ability to function". (Woodside, McClam,2018)

Social Model:

Public Health Model:
Public health models focus on groups in the population who may be identified by geography.
(Community, country, region, or state) type of problems (abuse, poverty, and specific illness).
(Woodside, McClam, 2018)
From my understanding, the differences between the 3 types of models are as follows:
Medical model: This looks at the illness or the symptoms and looks for a cure. For example,
deciphering the illness and providing appropriate medication or treatment.
Public Health model: This model focuses on educating the population and prevention of the illness.
This is a multicausal approach. For example, providing provisions for sanitation or nutrition.
Human services model: This model focuses on the client which can be an individual or a group and
their environments. They focus on how society, as a whole, should work together to solve the
problem. Their main concern is problem solving utilizing social services available, for instance
assistance with housing or food.
An Introduction to human Services, the three models of service delivery are discussed. These models
are Medical, Public Health, and Human Services. The first model is the Medical model. This model
assumes that mental disorders are diseases or illness that has caused a problem. The next model of
service delivery is the the Public Health model. This model focuses on groups and the impact many
environmental issues have on that community. The public health model views the mental disorder's
impact on the individual and society. The final model of service delivery is the Human Services
model. This model focuses on how the individual interacts with the environment and vise versa. The
main goal of this model is to find the need of balance between individuals and the environment.
These models are similar because for many reasons. For instance, the models are assumptions that
influence the delivery of services. These assumptions are what shape the beliefs about what causes
problems, how to treat the problem, and the role of the professional in-service delivery. Another way
the models are similar is because they deliver services to help solve the problems of the client. Also,
the three models of service delivery are similar because they all deliver treatment to aide in the process
of helping solve the problem. However, these three models of service delivery are different in some
ways. For example, the medical model focuses on the individual whereas the public health and human
services model focuses on the individual, society, and the environment. Another way these models are
different is they deliver different types of diagnoses and treatments to solve the problem. Finally, they
models are different because they are used in different settings that may require the client staying in a
hospital or being removed from the environment they are in.
