I know from what I've been seeing and hearing lately having federal
rulings are great and understandably necessary but it makes it
difficult when they then don't offer any assistance. HITECH is a set
of privacy standards to help ensure HIPAA is being followed (Campus
Safety 2010). It is a set of standards in the Health Information
Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act as part of the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. It requires
notifications to be sent in the event of a breach of healthcare-related
information, adds data security standards for EMRs, and expands on
HIPAA. With the rise of information and data being stored on
network computers it requires more IT security and the monitoring
of employee access by way of the use of PINs and or passwords. I
know for my facility I have two programs that are used one for my
therapy documentation and one for the patients EMRs and I have
two different usernames and passwords and I can't access certain
sites unless I'm on a specific password protected WIFI. These
practices cause disjointed security systems that are complicated for
employees, and costly and difficult to maintain. There needs to be
admin to evaluate who needs access to what information and at what
level, this data security tech impacts the facilities ability to regulate
compliance (Campus Security 2010). Healthcare security admin need
to implement a high level of security and obtain and regulate
employee adoption. There is also the issue with increasing levels of
staff turnover making sure people who need access have it and those
who no longer need it have been removed from having access. I
know at my work most of the programs are time sensitive, and if you
