I believe that healthcare physicians should be among those who have high-paying
professions. To become a physician, students spend a large amount of time taking
different medical classes. They would also have to spend 3 to 7 years doing residency
services (American College of Surgeons, 2022). The number of years a medical student
must take for their residency services depends on the type of physician they want to
work as in their future career. A general surgeon must complete 5 years of residency
services, while a neurologist surgeon must complete 6 years of residency training
(American College of Surgeons, 2022).
Another reason why healthcare physicians should have high-paying professions
because the extensive amount of care each physician gives to their patient. Some
physicians provide care to a patient that is considered difficult to perform. A cardiologist
is one of the highest-paying healthcare professionals. They get paid about $345,754 per
year to diagnoses and treat patients with heart and blood vessels problems (Indeed,
2021). They can cause harm to a patient if they do not provide the correct amount of care
to their patients. An anesthesiologist is the second healthcare profession with a high-
paying salary. They get paid about $328,526 per year to give patients anesthesia
medication before they undergo surgery (Indeed, 2021). If the anesthesiologist is not
properly trained, they could cause the patient to be paralyzed or can cause the patient to
die because they gave them the wrong amount of anesthesia medication. With this
increased responsibility as well as liability, physicians should be compensated well.
Healthcare physicians are held to a very high code of ethics and policies. These codes and
their training allow them to treat their patients with the best possible care.
