A. Is there American culture? I would say that there is American
culture although we are not one of the oldest countries in the world
we have developed ideologies that make us who we are. I think our
culture is a lot different from middle eastern culture because we
allow a much more secular society in America than is allowed in the
middle east. Some of these things would be the music we listen to or
the movies and tv shows that we watch. The American culture can
also change demographically which is also seen in the middle east.
B. Some of the obvious elements are the way we dress, the music
we listen to or even the sports teams we follow(C objective culture).
In America a lot of our culture is very subjective especially in newer
generations because of the accessibility to see these things with the
internet at your finger tips using phones and things like that. Most
subjective culture (c) is not seen in America as it is more breed into
us from the way we are raised by going to church, our attitude and
beliefs.
High culture can be looked at as a type of royalty that would enjoy
higher end things while low culture is said to be more of the general
population.
A - There appears to be American culture because there are
practices that are unique to the country of the United States that
the residing population practices. Specific practices can be found in
the relatively liberal society that that the U.S. possesses causes
people to utilize social media to share opinions, pictures, and ideas
that are personal. Although the U.S. is not the most frequent nor
largest of social media, it certainly is the starting point of it and has
social media entrenched in the mechanisms of culture (Cooper,
2022). Besides social media, there is also the culture of
entertainment and Hollywood with the idea of fame being
considered a ideal path to life for the younger and emerging
generation (Following the Stars/What’s It Like to Be Famous? Many
teens idealize fame--but how do celebrities feel about it, 2020). A
third and final component of the American culture can be a
capitalistic approach to life. The culture of the U.S. revolves around
TV, and it's virtually unheard of to not have a television set, and also
not watch it. Only specific outliers who don't watch TV due to
television or preference do not directly resonate with this
component of the American culture, and the entertainment that is
bought sometimes with higher prices than necessities such as food,
housing, and transportation (The New Strategist Editors, 2018).
These aspects that are largely prominent in American culture are
found in Middle Eastern Cultures, but they do not have the same
origin nor the same limitations. The Middle East does have
restrictions when it comes to the entertainment that is available and
what is held to be acceptable to share on social media. The Middle
East does not also have social media as a component of its culture
that makes it crucial to how it operates, whereas the U.S. now has
grown to the point where business can bloom or die based off the
social media reputation that they possess.
B - The obvious points are the clothes, entertainment, and music
that is prominent. (C) Many people seek to wear brand clothing,
watch shows found on streaming services such as Netflix, and artists
of the music industry. These constitute the objective culture. (c) The
subjective culture is what is not physical but takes abstract shapes.
Ideas, philosophy, religion, and norms fall into this category.
c High culture refers to ideas, images, and concepts that are
appreciated and enshrined within a society, while low culture refers
to instances of what is looked down upon collectively, such as
rumors from tabloids or malignant hearsay.
