Strategic planning is important whenever changes need to be made.
The plan is what keeps everything together and moving on track.
With so many different pieces of the puzzle, if you don't use a plan
you risk missing something and having an all around failure of
initiation. Time is money, so the plans will help save money by
ensuring tasks get completed timely. It also allows you to foresee the
future in a sense to make sure you are able to accomplish the things
you want to accomplish and that they will have a positive impact.
After reviewing the case study and developing my plan I was able to
identify some serious risks for Gateway that needed to be mitigated,
especially from an EEO standpoint- which was not the sole issue of
the project. I personally was able to learn some valuable resources, as
until this class, despite all the other classes I have taken up to know, it
was not clear to me that TJC had standards for leadership, and I have
put those standards to the test at my current job because, well, I don't
think they know about them either!
I particularly like the Gantt chart, reading about it did not make sense
to me at first, but when I applied it and created one it was like a
lightbulb went off in my head! I like how it shows the overlapping
deadlines etc. It is a great project management tool to use to keep the
process of the plan going. I will certainly be implementing in my
career!
