• Importance of consent
Consent is a process, an active agreement, and a clearly communicated agreement
between two Individuals. Consent of an individual is very important as it shows respect,
honesty, and a better way of communication with the person. Taking the consent of the
partner shows respect towards each other's relationship or profession. Consent is essential in a
relationship as it helps to eliminate the entitlement between the partners or professionals
(Importance of Consent, 2021). In the healthcare organization, the consent of the patient is
essential to take further the treatment. After knowing the importance of consent, it will be
overwhelmed to know the difference between informed and implied consent.
Difference between informed and implied consent
The informed and implied consent have many differences when going into the deep
insights. In the healthcare organization, a patient gives implied consent to treatment by
making an appointment, but there will be no formal agreement. Also, it can be said that
implied consent is known to be informal. On the other hand, informed consent comes in a
legal term. Here, the individual decides on a treatment plan, sufficient information is provided
to the patient to make a decision, the treatment plan is authorized, and the consent of the
patient has been taken in a legal paper (Jotform, 2021).
• The purpose of the designated record set and the legal health record
In the healthcare organization, it is essential for the managerial team to maintain the
health records of the patients in an appropriate manner. In general, the health record is
considered as the storage place or principal repository for information and data relating to the
healthcare services that are offered to an individual patient. Additionally, there are designated
record sets and the legal health record present in the healthcare sector that are essential
elements for the study. The designated record set (DRS) consists of the business information

unrelated to patient care as well as the protected health information of the patient. On the
other hand, the legal health record is the general information that is helpful in making
decisions about the patient's treatment and is used by the patient care team (Fundamentals of
the legal health record and designated record set, 2021). The main aim of maintaining the
legal health record in the healthcare setting is to support the decision made in the care of a
patient along with supporting the revenue from the third-party payer. On the contrary, the
main purpose of the designated record set is to make a decision about the resident that is
maintained by the healthcare organization.
• The important elements in a retention and destruction policy
The retention and deconstruction policy is one of the important parts of the lifecycle of a
record. Basically, it explains the needs of the business to keep a record or a piece of
information, the disposal of the record on time, and where to store the important pieces of
information. In a retention and destruction policy, an organization needs to include some of
the important elements that include the business needs, organizational culture, litigation
holds, legal requirements, approaches to retention policies, implementation, and automation.
