A new EHR and implement a new model of care will change how
people work, and as a result, it changes the culture. EHR itself cannot
fail the facility goals, but failure to deal with the staff model can lead
to uncertainty and can have a bad impact on the implementation
project's goals and success. Change can also cause team pressure and
some resistance, denial, or rejection among the workers that may
lead to tensions, and a project manager or a leader needs to work on
both encouragement and/or interdisciplinary approaches to manage
a change to be accepted and learned. Staff may think that the
proposed change is not in their best interest or ideal for their
practice to be learned.... A good project manager can follow these
steps to create a climate for a new change:
Communicate in various ways with the stakeholders and
develop the documentation, and allow the personnel to know
about the main goals of implementing a new EHR and
understanding the Future State can be very helpful.
