July 13, 2016, the Codman Square Health Centre in Dorchester,
Massachusetts had a data branch in the system. The New England
Healthcare Exchange Network (NEHEN) was compromised. This
breach effected over 3,840 to patients with their information like
names, address, birthdates, gender, and health insurance. Some of
their Social Security numbers may have been approachable.
To keep this breach safe, I would use the seven-step Approach
for Implementing a Security Management Process. This would help
the health centre by selecting a team. This team would learn by
documenting their process, findings, and actions along with
reviewing existing security and perform security risk analysis. After
this has been done the team can develop a plan of action to manage.
When the security is up and running it always needs to be monitored.
Audit it often and keep it updated on an ongoing basis.
