Week Six Notes
Revision Strategies
General Revision Tips:
1. Get some distance from your paper. Set your draft aside for a while, preferably
overnight. When you come back try and reread it with fresh eyes.
2. Give yourself plenty of time to revise. Try finishing the draft at least a few days before
the deadline to reread and make the necessary large-scale and small-scale changes.
3. Used the to locate important parts of the essay, such as the highlighting function thesis,

4. Read your paper aloud. It is easier to the parts of your draft that need clarification hear
or correction than it is to see them.
Large-Scale Revisions
Large-scale revisions are revisions that focus on the organization of your ideas and the
filling in of evidence and details to support your key points. Begin by assessing the paper
as a whole by answering the following:
Is your clearly stated?thesis statement
Do your key points support your thesis statement?
