ECO 202 Assignment 2
In my capacity as an organizational consultant for SNHU Pet Supply Company, I was tasked
with determining the causes of the low productivity. After determining the cause, I would also
have to make suggestions for how to raise the statistics. I ascertained the issue by speaking with
the team members and managers. The management style used for years to handle the team
members is ineffective. Administration is micromanaging them; all they do is give tasks to their
team members, who must then record their time on a payroll for the assigned task. When top
management distributed work, it caused a situation where team members thought some of the
duties were not well matched to their talents, putting them under a lot of stress to do what
management expected. The result is a tension between productivity and efficiency within the
organization. There are several styles of management in an organization, each with a particular
set of duties. In an organization, there are two main perspectives on managers: conventional and
modern. According to the traditional management paradigm, the manager who has influence over
the workforce is sometimes referred to as the boss. On the other hand, according to the modern
management perspective, a manager should assist other managers and employees by encouraging
and directing them toward a process known as empowerment. The process of allowing or
authorizing someone to think, conduct, take action, and make decisions on their own is called
empowerment (Soomo Learning, 2020).
Management applies and completes a firm's objective through four fundamental functions.
"Planning, organizing, leading, and regulating" are these fundamental tasks (Soomo Learning,
2020). These four tasks enable management to effectively categorize the daily actions carried out
in order to accomplish the company's objective. Managers may define goals and choose a
strategy for achieving them with the aid of planning. Before making any plans, managers must
"become aware of the major contingencies and trends facing their firms in terms of economic
circumstances, rivals, and consumers," according to the Planning Process (Soomo Learning,
2020). They can design a strategy to accomplish their goals after doing research on the subject,
but they should also have a backup plan in case they need to adjust their original one. In order to
make future judgments, management must also be structured and have access to organized
information. The management function of organizing entails creating an organizational structure
and assigning human resources to guarantee that business goals are achieved (Soomo Learning,
2020).
Method entails not just the company's judgment call processes but also the division of tasks and
duties among employees. Depending on the job duties, some businesses might divide their
operations into several departments. A few examples of these departments include accounting,
human resources, and customer service. The role of management in leading involves inspiring
and influencing staff to complete tasks successfully. "Leading entails leveraging informal and
social influence to motivate others. If managers are good leaders, their team members will be
motivated to work hard to achieve organizational goals (Soomo Learning, 2020). A manager
needs to understand the values, attitudes, personalities, and emotions of the employees in order
to inspire them and be a successful leader. Controlling involves making sure that each work is
carried out effectively and according to plan while preventing a catastrophe. The three phases of
controlling area setting performance criteria, assessing actual performance in comparison to
those standards, and remedial action when appropriate (Soomo Learning,2020). Control does not
imply that a management is manipulating a person's behavior, emotions, or values.
Controlling entails a manager making sure that every choice they make is put into practice and
watching over every employee as they do their duties. Managers must also ensure that tasks are
completed successfully when working with others. Both sets of procedures make use of material,
financial, and human resources (Soomo Learning, 2020). I would advise management to watch
employees perform various tasks and determine which of the employee's skills is the strongest.
The management can effectively complete the work when they match the tasks that employees
must do with their strongest talents. Once they have accomplished it, management may guide
staff in achieving the daily corporate objective by observing.
