The preferred methodology I prefer for an analytics project is to
first envision the end state and work towards a solution to achieve
that end state. The framework that best uses this concept is called
Design Methodology. Most people think of software engineering
when thinking about Design Methodology. There are many other
fields where design is also used including DOD, architectural
design, and healthcare.
One aspect that complicates analysis using Design is that it focuses
on solutions rather than solving a specific problem. The solution is
centered towards humans who will benefit from the solution and
the business requirements. (Brown, 2022) The second challenge to
using Design as a methodology is it's nonlinear. Steps go forward
and backward, and are repeated as many times as necessary to
develop a positive solution. It starts with identifying needs and
ends when the steps to solve a problem are identified.
The last challenge to using Design is defining the problem. In the
early stages, Design practitioners need to propose an initial
problem statement to solve. However, the initial problem statement
could be way off or the analysts do not continue to redefine the
problem after user testing. f
