I selected Google for our topic since it belongs to the technology sector. Additionally, they
compete in a variety of niche markets, including marketing, smart devices, cloud computing, and
search engines. "To organize the world's information and make it broadly usable," reads their
mission statement. This mission statement makes a commitment to assisting individuals in using
technology to better their lives. It was written on the basis of the idea that everyone should have
access to knowledge, which may then assist individuals in making wiser decisions
(Google).Google collects and stores a wide variety of data from its customers since it is a
data-driven firm. Location data, search history, website browsing history, ad interactions,
YouTube data, and device information are a few examples of data kinds. Additionally, they
compile consumers' private data, including name, email and DOB when creating a Google
account.
Any business should value ethical data management since it fosters customer confidence.
Companies may gain customers' trust by safeguarding sensitive information. When a firm
handles data ethically, it abides by the law and protects its reputation (Fletcher, 2022). The
mission statement of Google does support ethical data processing. Because it manages such a
vast amount of data on a daily basis, Google has a huge obligation to treat its customers' data in
an ethical manner. Google enables users to anonymize their data for this purpose. Additionally,
they provide customers with control over their data and are transparent about data usage.
Google has various privacy protection measures in place. They deploy encryption of user data
and conduct frequent audits of their procedures. Regarding third party access, there are stringent
rules. Google makes an effort to provide users with a good experience without violating their
privacy (Google).Product or service creation is one scenario in which Google's mission statement
would offer advice on ethical decision-making to data professionals. In this instance, personal
data about a user is gathered. The data professional should think about how the data may be
made available and valuable when dealing with user privacy, as well as making sure the data
acquired is essential, acceptable, and in accordance with rules and the law. (2022 Fletcher).
