IT is a very important part of a company’s processes and strategies, if
they are willing to pursue their business goals and achieve the
competitive advantage they wish for. The introduction of IT and IT
systems into company processes define the effectiveness of a business
model to work stay in the continued, growing digital world. However,
the introduction of the IT frameworks introduces its own risks and
issues to deal with.
In this brief, I choose to pursue the COBIT IT framework. I chose this
because, according to my research, COBIT has some of the most
compliance to the standard security and privacy concepts for
information systems. It gives you the ability to research, develop and
promote up-to date set of generally accepted IT control objectives for
day-to-day use by business managers and organisations.
According to the COBIT content, the application of the enterprise
governance concept is inadequate without the application of IT
governance. This framework provides effectiveness and proper
security management and plans to effectively organise and counter the
organisation’s information security risks.
Some of the characteristics of the COBIT framework that made me
choose it out of its quality are as follows;
a. It is effective and deals with information that will be used, in a
timely decisive manner.
b. It optimizes the use of information by optimizing the use of
resources for information processing and distribution.
c. It has the confidentiality benchmark that protects data by
refusing access to unauthorised persons.
d. It plays out well, the integrity requirement in accordance with the
business’s values and expectations.
e. It also performs the availability requirement to a much better
satisfaction by allowing access to whom access is allowed.
In light of this brief, I wish we pay a particular attention to this module
in accordance with the IT integration.
