Module One: Journal
Sakshaug, Beau
While working as a customer service representative, I have heard and seen a few cases of
discrimination. Recently, I witnessed an argument between customers about having enough to
pay for her items. One customer was white and the other was black. To summarize everything,
they paid for their items and left the store. Factors that are most relatable to the incident are race,
disability, and age. While witnessing this interaction, it may have been possible that the customer
assumed that the other customer didn't have enough to pay for all their items and was just
holding up the line. After a brief discussion with a fellow employee, it was revealed that the
customer was buying items for someone else and was using their card for a second transaction.
