CHE 300 Week One Discussion
Hi guys,
Grace Baez is my name, and I live in the Bronx, New York. I'm presently finishing up my
community health education bachelor's degree. I made the decision to write a newsletter for
sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade middle school students on eating well and exercising. I can
relate to this since I think schools have a significant influence on children's health. One of my
two boys never enjoyed drinking water and was introduced to juice by his grandma when he was
a little child. When he started hearing how nutritious it was from school, no matter how many
times I told him that it was beneficial for him, he would always remark it was nasty. He now
enjoys drinking water, but I still have to restrict his intake. Furthermore, they all like exercising
and perfecting their push-up, lunge, and other routines. Although I do drink water, kids didn't get
up much about good diet and exercise from me. I don't consume a variety of fruits and veggies
and I am overweight. I am very happy that my kids choose healthier foods than I do since I am
terrible at paying attention to what I eat. I think that schools have an effect on children's lives
because they are so susceptible.
