substance abuse, in my local county in Massachusetts. There are
plans and programs locally and throughout the state that deal with
substance abuse. Massachusetts alone has some of the top hospitals
in the country and these hospitals along with local entities help
provide help for those suffering from substance abuse. Statewide
they have BSAS or Bureau of Substance Addiction Services. Whose
goal is “oversee the statewide system of prevention, intervention,
treatment, and recovery support services for individuals, families, and
communities affected by substance addiction.” (BSAS, n.d.) The
webpage on Mass.gov provides multiple different resources such as
general knowledge, reports, and treatment and recovery services to
help those suffering from substance abuse. Locally my city provides
websites and resources for those who are dealing with substance
abuse, even helping friends and family identify signs of possible
substance abuse. (Opioid, n.d.) The city has created guides that
people can view to understand things such as Narcan and signs of
substance abuse, specifically opioids that also include resources for
people to further research dealing with substance abuse.
