Honey Family Farm did well at the end of each of the three
simulations. In each of the simulations I selected spending time with
the family. I felt that if the family fell apart, so did the family business.
As generations passed and family members were not the best choice
for the CEO position, looking for outside sources was a must.
Allowing external board members and external investors were key
components in the growth of the company. a Family members are
limited in their ideas and strategies while fresh ideas are great for the
growth of the company. Some family members were against allowing
external influence into the business because they were afraid they
were losing control and the company was being given away. I always
decided to keep the business in the line of honey and personal
products rather than branching into the cosmetics line. a The company
may have grown further if I would have made this selection. I would
say that is the one option that I wish that I would have changed to see
the turnout.
