"In February 2021, McDonald’s implemented Allyship through
Accountability—the company’s effort to tie executive compensation
to its diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy—and, for the first time,
the maker of the Big Mac released a full breakdown of U.S. staff in its
offices and corporately-owned restaurants by race, ethnicity, and
gender. McDonald’s is tying 15% of executive bonuses to meeting
DEI goals, such as 35% of U.S. leadership roles (senior director and
above) comprising underrepresented groups and women filling 45%
of leadership roles (senior director and above) globally by 2025"
(Bloomberg, 2022).
Actions you could take to ensure that a diverse, inclusive, and
equitable project team is assembled would be to give all team
members a voice, provide support for the teams, establish pay equity,
be transparent, and have fair and equal hiring practices. Creating
transparency within a company on hiring practices and pay helps
ensure that job seekers from various backgrounds have an equal
opportunity at being hired based on their qualifications.
McDonald’s has a long-established and comprehensive CSR policy –
the current iteration of it forms an integral part of the recently
announced growth strategy branded ‘Advancing the Arches’. The
details of the new chapter of the program came in November 2020
and incorporates some aspects of how the COVID-19 pandemic has
changed consumer and corporate behavior. The plan prioritizes
marketing, menus, digital orders, delivery, and drive-thru services.
The CSR policy fits in with this and reflects that shift to post-
pandemic operations" (Freeman, 2021). a The firm states: “We take our
social responsibilities very seriously”(McDonald's.com, 2022).
McDonald's CSR is the commitment to its shareholders which include
employees, customers, investors, and communities. My product,
which introduces keto options on McDonald's menu at affordable
prices aligns with McDonald's CSR program because it offers a
healthy option that McDonald's customers have been wanting.
Creating this option will create better leverage against other fast food
retailers because at the moment there are no keto meals at affordable
prices being offered at fast food restaurants. This is just one more
step for McDonald's to show they care about their consumers.
