What is the company's position on DEI? Do they have a clear policy
or initiative around it?
Apple has a clear and structured policy around their DEI initiatives.
Right in their website they state, “how we come together is how we
change the world.” (Inclusion & Diversity. Apple. n.d.) Apple
truly stands by their initiative as they go above and beyond to be
equal across the board and accepting of everyone. They are
incredibly proud of their achievement as they have a whole page on
their inclusion and diversity sector displaying all their DEI
achievements and percentages showing progression.
What actions could you take to ensure a diverse, inclusive, and
equitable project team is assembled?
b To ensure and maintain the diverse, inclusive, and equitable project
team there needs to be accountability measures in place. What does
this look like? It can come in many forms in the hiring process,
addressed within the handbook, launch initiative project and just by
providing an equal opportunity work force where no discrimination is
involved. Every qualified and capable individual deserves a shot in
the work force if they meet all the job criteria. In 2021, Apple
launched a “major new Racial Equity and Justice Initiative projects to
challenge systemic racism, advance racial equity nationwide.” (Apple
Newsroom 2022) This is how Apple has taken a step to back up their
DEI Initiative.
What is the company's commitment to CSR and how does it affect
their profitability or image in the market?
Apple is also highly committed to their corporate responsibility
efforts. They have many programs in place to support human rights,
health and safety standard codes, development of employees and
local communities. They do a great job focusing on the triple bottom
line which include profit, people, and planet. It is essentially taking
into considering their efforts to try and improve quality of life, limit
global emissions while still maintaining their profits. “Apple is
committed to the highest standards of social responsibility across our
worldwide supply chain. We insist that all of our suppliers provide
safe working conditions, treat workers with dignity and respect, and
use environmentally responsible manufacturing processes. Our
actions — from thorough site audits to industry-leading training
programs — demonstrate this commitment.”
How does your product or service align with the company's CSR
program and how can you leverage this position as a competitive
tool?
Reality glasses will align with the company’s CSR programs as it is
just another product that can follow the same standards that are
already in place. With its capabilities of both the apple Watch and Air
pods, it can eliminate the production of those two devices as they are
combining into one product. Inevitably, Apple has established a
procedure that encompasses all Apple products to ensure that the
CSR is being sustained.
