Which of the segments do you think you can complete immediately?
• Customer segments
• Customer relationship
• Value proposition
• Channels
• Key resources
When determining the type of product or service I would introduce, I
factored in many of these segments. It was essential to ensure that the
product or service had a place in the market before continuing my
research. Meijer is a family-owned grocery store chain that is in the
business of customer service. I asked myself what they could bring to
the market to enhance the customer's experience. Do they have the
necessary resources to add this service, and who would use these
services?
Which segments do you think might need more work?
• Key Activities
• Key Partners
In these segments, I would have to do some more research. I have basic
knowledge of how a grocery store is organized and operated and the
regulatory requirements of food handling.
Are there any factors or segments you have not considered so far?
Which ones? Explain.
• Cost Structure
• Revenue Streams
These segments I had not considered when choosing my new service. I
know the purpose of introducing a new product or service is to increase
revenue, and the addition of the new service would add to expenses but
with limited data on a relatively new service, estimating the amount of
cost and revenue is a little unpredictable.
The service that I proposed is meal kit services sold through a small
chain of family-owned grocery stores. Through my research on the
topic, I discovered that Kroger acquired Home Chef in 2018 and offers
a similar service. Although Kroger's revenue has increased over the
years, it is hard to understand if the increase in revenue is due to the
addition of Home Chef and if so, how much?
