I feel there are too many government regulations on business,
affecting small businesses' livelihoods and profits. Let's face it.
Regulations cost businesses time and money. And that is why many
companies are leaving the US for other places that do not have strict
business regulations. For instance, two of the United Technologies
Corps. plants left the United States to set up shop in Mexico because
53 federal laws restricted their industry.
Another example is the decline in U.S. recycling centers, while
Mexico's recycling business is booming. This is because Mexico has
9 fewer government regulations for lead emissions. I understand
that the people need to be protected, and regulating this kind of
activity is important, but are our lives more important than those in
Mexico? Regulations need to be in place to protect the citizens of
the United States in many ways, but overregulation stifles the
growth of a business.
