Personally, I do not believe that businesses are overly regulated. Regulations are
required for the effective functioning of economies and societies. Citizens, businesses,
governments, and civil society all play by the same rules. They support markets, safeguard
citizens' rights and safety, and ensure the supply of public goods and services. Limits on
environmental pollution, laws against child labor or other employment regulations,
minimum wage laws, regulations requiring truthful labeling of ingredients in food and
drugs, and food and drug safety regulations establishing minimum testing standards are all
examples of regulations that I believe benefit society.
When it comes to business, I believe there is a fine line between too much and too
little regulation. It's as if you're trying to find the perfect ratio, but nothing in this world is
"perfect." On the one hand, regulations are required to protect the public, protect
employees, prevent fraud, protect the environment, and provide fair corporate competition
laws. Regulations, on the other hand, might stifle economic growth, raise expenses, or
have other unforeseen consequences. I said all that to say I don’t believe any business
should be less regulated. In terms of more, I believe that data protection laws should be
more tightly regulated. More limits, in my opinion, should be put in place to effectively
secure our personal data and information. When your personal information is released or
hacked, it can result in irreparable damage that takes years to repair.
