The argument that some individuals have that accounts should “stay in their lane”. I am sure
most of us have experienced situations in which we wished a coworker from another
department would not “but in” our work, but in this situation, it is completely different. Since
accountants use the managerial reports produced by these system specialists, they have every
right to be involved in the process and design of them. The separation of information
specialists and accountants will lead to inefficient processes, design, and effectiveness of
information systems.
b b b b b b b b b b The idea that accountants solely concentrate on the production of financial statements
is a disadvantage of itself. Accountants are knowledgeable about all aspects of an induvial
business. We have been equipped with finance, managerial, operational, and legal skills. If
accountants are not involved in the development of information systems, how reliable is the
information these systems are producing?
