YOUT 201 Discussion Thread: Ministry Philosophy
My Statement of Purpose-As believers in Christ, it is our primary purpose of our lives
to fulfill the commandment from Christ of the Great Commission by sharing the
Gospels to make more disciples to enlarge the Kingdom of God!
1 s t Core Value is Discipleship- We must all continue to grow in our faith and a
excellent way to do that is to strive to learn morals and righteousness while striving
to bring about truth and sharing the gospels as Jesus had directed all us followers to
do in the scriptures under what is called the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20 ESV).
2 nd Core Value is Sanctification -This is a word that even many Christians do not
understand and is one that is best understood as being the work of God’s free grace
where we are renewed in the image of God. This word came about in the
seventeenth century as a part of the Christian doctrine by the Baptist Catechism as
a continuing process we deal with. This Process begins exactly at the time we accept
Christ as our Lord and Savior and is made perfect when we die as Christ-like. This
educates us truths as mentioned in 2 Thess. 2:13 (ESV) and means that we give up
are sinful attitudes and choose to be like Christ.
3 rd Core Value is Devotions - All of us will have challenges in our life, some good,
some hard and some that seem to be impossible to deal with, but we are to have
faith and trust in God to provide us the resources and spiritual guidance from the
Holy Spirit. Like the Apostle Paul wrote “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do
everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through
him.” (Col. 3:17 ESV) and also one of the most famous scriptures we must not forget
to add here is “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13 ESV)
4 th Core Value is Diversity -This is something that is inherent of humans and animals
(Acts 17:26-27 ESV) as God created an abundance of creatures on earth and the
Apostle John wrote in Revelations 7:9 (ESV) that the population f heaven will have
persons from every nation, people and spoken word and Christ was to usher in unity
(Gal. 3:28 ESV). God created us all in His image and at the same time we are all
created with different mindsets and personalities that makes us all unique. Even
Jesus said in Mark 12:31 that there are two commandments that are most important
“The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’. There is no other
commandment greater than these”
5 th Core Value is Sharing the Gospels -This core value is one that we are tasked to
strive to fulfill everyday of our Christian Lives and is important to rebuke and battle
Satan and his lies. The Great Commission is one that is more than a commandment,
it is a duty in striving to become a disciple. In the Gospel of Matthew, this duty is
spelled out clearly “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the
age.” (Matt. 28:19-20 ESV). This will enable people to truly know about Christ and
the Gospels help to understand more where people will be more willing to welcome
Christ into their lives, then this would usher in a more positive world and our society
would have more harmony and less hate.
