Introduction
While every denomination enters into a worship service in a different form or style, the
theology of a Christian worship service should be anchored deeply in the Word and life of Jesus
Christ. When attending Cornerstone Christian Center (CCC), an congregant will leave knowing
that they have not only have been in the presence of God, but each individual is invited to
participate in a corporate worship experience that is biblical in nature and grounded in sound
doctrine. Cornerstone is a Pentecostal church that is affiliated with the Assemblies of God. The
mission of CCC is to be “a disciple-making church that intentionally provides a process to
involve disciples in identifying and developing their unique God-given gifts.”1 This mission is
evident from its website, social media presence, to their in-person services. The rallying cry of
this church is to connect with God and connect with others.
Cornerstone is in Avondale, Arizona. While there is plenty of vision and room for growth
newcomers do not feel like they are just another person in a vast sea of faces. There is many
opportunities for church members and guest to actively connect with God as well as those around
them. Services are offered for families through the nursery, children’s church, boys and girls club
ministries, and youth. There is also time for main service worship in conjunction with an adult
Bible study service. When dealing with the precautions and limitations placed on the church
through COVID-19, CCC invested in taking their life groups, also known as small groups, into a
technical world. Zoom meetings have been scheduled weekly for family bible studies, marriage
ministry, as well as men’s and women’s curriculum exploration. The heart of this church is
grounded in their passion for God and genuine worship as described throughout both the Old and
New Testaments.
