I would describe my experience with reading and writing creative works with a Christian
worldview as being pretty much inspirational when keeping God in mind behind any of the work
I do. “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting
things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be fully
competent, completely equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Some
characteristics regarding the qualities of such writing should be trustworthy, knowledgeable, and
gracious. Write with integrity, study what you teach, and write pleasantly. God’s words do not
just serve the personal or published ministry of writing by working through us, but they make
“the man of God . . . complete” (2 Timothy 3:17) by working in us.
When I write, I just let it all out. Write it badly at first. According to Reedsy, they say the same
thing. Reedsy editor Lauren Hughes says it best:
“Blocks often occur because writers put a lot of pressure on themselves to sound ‘right’ the first
time. A good way to loosen up and have fun again in a draft is to give yourself permission to
write imperfectly.”
You can always go back and edit where you feel it is appropriate. Getting it all out is what’s
important at first. Another writer’s block strategy I use is taking scrambled notes. Jot down ideas
as they come to you and keep this up until you have enough scrambled thoughts on paper and
then start piecing them together.
