WEEKLY DEVOTION: HELP ME TO FIND WISDOM IN ALL MY DOINGS
Proverbs 4:7-8 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting
get understanding.8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when
thou dost embrace her.(KJV)
Those who walk in wisdom have learned to approach their daily lives through God's
truths and His ways. It is imperative that we not only understand God's Word, but we must also
understand its application to our specific conflicts each day. We must know the Word of God
and hide it in our hearts. The depth and volume of the Word must be enough to serve as a
resource when conflict comes. The deeper the knowledge, the greater the memorization, the
more personal our experience is with God, the more likely we are to respond with the correct
attitude and behavior pattern in times of stress. This takes a lifetime to develop. Perhaps that is
why we hear so much about the older person having more wisdom; they have had more time and
more experiences to develop their understanding and application.
A daily devotional time, just you and God, is a necessity for all of God's people, but it is
especially important to those who are daily molding students' lives. You never know who will
pattern their life after yours. You may even become their measuring sticks of what is right or
wrong. Even though that may be a shocking and frightening reality, if we are honest, we will be
able to look back to see adults in our lives, especially teachers, who either created a positive
attitude or a negative, untrusting attitude toward the world in us. We must fill ourselves with
God's truth daily. An empty vessel has nothing to pour out.
Dear God, Teach me the necessity of spending time with you. I must have your wisdom and
your guidance in all of my day's activities. May I never forget the awesome responsibility that a
teacher carries as innocent, simple children follow my leadership .
