Living in God’s Two Kingdoms: A Biblical Vision for Christianity and Culture
Summary:
The author makes biblical case for “two kingdoms” that approaches in both Christian and
cultural way. In the first part of the book deals with “first things and last things” which is an
exposition which includes the bible’s teaching on Adam’s role in God’s plan and His God’s Son
coming in to this world in the form of a man and fulfilling that role as the second Adam.
The second part describes about “living in Babylon” which explains about examining the
people as sojourners in both OT and NT of God’s status.
The third part of the book talks about “Christian life is two kingdoms” where the author
tends to explore both practical and theological of the first two parts of the book.
Critique:
In the first part the author describes about the expositions of Two Adams in God’s plan
through the discussion by exploring that redemption is not creation designed but recreation
designed (26). Which means that people take up and celebrate of what Jesus has accomplished
than the first Adam has done.
In the second part, where God’s people live in sojourners and exiles on earth and that
brings up the discussion saying that we live in two realms or two kingdoms which were
established through Noahic covenant which is a God-ordained society which has a common
thing that are in Abrahamic covenant.
In the third part of the book, the author brings up the role of the church and Christian life
that includes everything that is part of the church like corporate worship, authority, etc., and the
chapter 7 puts them everything in the practical and theological way that includes the areas of
education, politics, and vocation.
